There have been some very talented athletes from Coconut Creek in recent years, but Madison Easton, Filippo Baldassarri and Yoel Tejada Jr. are among the best.
Coming off a phenomenal two years with North Broward Prep, Easton has officially committed to play at Charleston University.
“I’m beyond grateful to my family for their endless support and for giving me every opportunity to chase my dreams,” Easton said.
Easton began playing volleyball in sixth grade. She initially started her high school career at FAU High School but transferred to NBP for her junior and senior seasons. In her first season, she was named co-captain and led the Eagles to a District Championship, while also being named to the All-District Team.
Easton had 153 kills in 143 career sets at NBP. She also added 20 aces, 10 blocks, and 20 digs, helping her team win 29 matches. Easton also plays for the Arrive Volleyball Club and is set to join a college team.
After a terrific varsity career and strong summer, Baldassarri has officially committed to play college baseball at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
After moving from Italy, Baldassarri played two years on the varsity baseball team with NBP and won a State Championship as a junior. He went 1-0 in eight games before dominating as a senior, where he went 5-1 with an ERA of .98. Baldassarri struck out 37 batters in 35.2 innings and helped the opponents to a .219 batting average. He is set to play in college for a team that went 24-19 a year ago.
Tejada was also promoted to the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the Washington Nationals organization. He was drafted out of high school by the Pittsburgh Pirates I the 19th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, but wen ton top play college baseball at both The University of Florida and Florida State University. Tejada won two games with the Gators and then went on to pitch 13 times with the Seminoles.
In his professional career, Tejada began the year with the Fredericksburg Nationals and went 4-3. He had an ERA of. 3.43 and also tossed a complete game before his promotion
