The fall sports season will continue, with one team qualifying for the playoffs while another competes in the postseason.
The Knights, who won their fourth straight District Championship, went 6-4 during the regular season and earned the third seed. The Knights are set to play Doral Academy, as Monarch played one of the toughest schedules in the State and recorded wins against Deerfield Beach, Seminole, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs High School, Piper, and Blanche Ely.
Monarch, though, lost to Bolles, Don Brosco Prep, Chaminade Madonna, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The Knights were led by quarterback Florentino Lopez after throwing for 2,207 yards and 17 touchdowns.
He also added 428 yards and ran for nine touchdowns. Jabari Brady led the team with 791 yards and eight touchdowns, while Jamboree Riggins had 506 yards and five touchdowns. Chris Cortinas and Sanjay Fisher each had over 385 receiving yards.
Keshawn Pascall had 90 carries for 830 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, Juwan Dawkins and Moe Judson each finished tied for first with 69 tackles, while Jordan Pyfrom and Jayden Joselin each had 67. Dasean Miller led the team with 15.5 sacks, with Judson having 10. The Knights also picked off seven passes, with Joselin leading the team with three.
Doral Academy went 5-4 this year following wins against South Broward, Dr. Krop, Homestead, Spanish River, and Southwest High School. Kickoff for this game is set for Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. as they will play either West Broward or South Plantation High School. Southridge is the top seed and will play Nova High School, while Charles W. Flanagan and Piper High School will also play in the opening round.
The cross country team ran at the District Championship on Wednesday at South Country Regional Park. Zoe Rodriguez led the girls team and finished three spots ahead of Sophia Ortega. Landon Kerlegrand placed 111 for the boys, followed by Garidson Jean-Marie and Adrian Graham,
