Sports are heating up in Coconut Creek, with three teams holding senior night before the start of the District tournament.
North Broward Prep’s hockey team held senior night on Monday during their 8-5 win over Cypress Bay. The Eagles honored Emilio Stabile, Aidan Moore, Sean Warash, Hudson Kodsi, Blake Stein, Bennett Raione, and Lucca Casacci to move to 19-0–1.
The seniors scored 72 of the team’s 175 goals, led by Emilio Stabile with 16 goals. Casacci has scored 13 goals, including one along with Casacci on Monday against Cypress Bay while Moore, Warash. Kodsi and Stein all already have seven goals.
Carl Rosen-Nosen and Brian Pine also are tied for the team lead with 16 goals. NBP has outscored their opponents 175-31 this year. Goaltenders Ruther Grady and John Trontz both have goals against average below 2.00
Next, the Eagles will have a bye in their next District Tournament to the semifinals and will retake the ice on Feb 7 for a chance to make the Championship.
The NBP boys basketball team honored Ben Daniels, Ben Bullock, Alex Wigginton, Ryan Weiss, Zach Kaplan, and Myles Samuels before their 66-47 win on Thursday. This was the Eagles’ 18th victory of the season. They will wait to see who will be playing in the District tournament.
The Coconut Creek High School boys basketball held Senior Night on Monday. It honored Darien Woody, Shamal Fredericks, Neytam Rivera, Donovan Strowbridge, Isiah James, Keshawn Jones, Bryan Jules, and Kyen Harmon in their 59-44 win over Pine Crest School.
The Cougars head into the District Tournament with a record of 5-16 and will be the five seed facing Atlantic High School on Wednesday, Feb 7, at 7 p.m. The Eagles are 5-19 this year but have won two of their last three games.
