By Sharon Aron Baron

Coconut Creek has announced the opening of registration for the 2023 Co-Ed Instructional Basketball League for children ages 5 to 7.

The league will consist of ten regular games and four skill-building clinics; all coach-refereed with no score kept during the games.

The league is designed to be instructional, focusing on developing fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Each game will consist of four to five-minute quarters and will be held on Fridays and Saturdays from July 21 through September 30.

In addition to the games, the league will also host four skill-building clinics on Fridays from June 23 through July 14th. The clinics will be held from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and are designed to provide additional instruction to players.

The league’s players will receive a jersey, shorts, and a basketball. The league costs $110 for Coconut Creek residents and $160 for non-residents, with credit card payment only. Registration will be open from April 1st through May 31st or until full.

The league seeks volunteer coaches to help with the instructional clinics and games. Those interested in coaching should email the league at CreekSportsGirlsBBall@CoconutCreek.net.

Registration can be completed online at www.CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or by walk-in at the Recreation Complex or Community Center. Those interested in registering online must have a WebTrac account, which can be set up by contacting the Recreation Complex at 954-956-1580.

For more information about the league, please call 954-956-1580 or visit the Coconut Creek Parks website at www.CoconutCreek.net/Parks. The dates of the clinics and games are subject to change depending on the number of registrations received.
