Through our joint effort with the Coconut Creek Police Department to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Coconut Creek’s crime and arrests through May 15.

Theft – From Motor Vehicle

A 37-year-old female was the victim of Theft – From Motor Vehicle on W Atlantic Blvd was reported on 05/09/2023. The total estimated loss was: $100. A purse was taken from the back seat.

Theft – From Building

Walmart was the victim of Theft – From Building on W Hillsboro Blvd was reported on 05/09/2023. The total estimated loss was: $126. A Walmart female employee stole $126.58 worth of items.

A 34-year-old male was the victim of Theft – From a Building. The theft of an iPhone 13 Pro Max Coral Pointe I was reported on 05/10/2023. The total estimated loss was: $1,000.  

Fraud – Other

An 18-year-old female was the victim of Fraud – Other on NW 20 Street in Wynmoor was reported on 05/10/2023. The total estimated loss was: $1,959. The fraud was committed via a mirroring telephone app.

Elderly Abuse/Neglect

A 69-year-old male was the victim of Elderly Abuse/Neglect and was reported on 05/10/2023 in Baywood Village II.

Theft – Retail/Shoplifting

The Guitar Center was the victim of Theft – Retail/Shoplifting on Lyons Road was reported on 05/10/2023. The total estimated loss was: $2,149. 

Robbery – Carjacking

A 52-year-old female was the victim of Robbery – Carjacking at Evergreen Lakes on Wiles Road was reported on 05/10/2023. 

Theft – All Other

A 32-year-old female was the victim of Theft – All Other was reported on 05/11/2023. The total estimated loss was: $200. Cash and cards were stolen from a wallet.

Disturbance – Juvenile
Disturbance – A juvenile at Tradewinds Elementary on Johnson Road was reported on 05/11/2023. A seven-year-old, a first-grade student, got mad and made a finger gun gesture and sound toward a classmate he thought was making fun of him.

Weapon – Unlawful Discharge

A victim of a Weapon – Unlawful Discharge at Advenir South on Cocoplum Circle was reported on 05/11/2023—an accidental discharge with a Juvenile shot and transported to Broward General.

Weapon – Bomb Threat

Coconut Creek High School was the victim of Weapon – Bomb Threat at 1400 NW 44 Avenue was reported on 05/12/2023. An unknown suspect called a bomb threat into the school.

Vehicle Theft – Auto

A 39-year-old male was the victim of Vehicle Theft – an Auto was reported on Sunshine Drive on 05/13/2023. 

Arrests

Otano, Stephanie, Jazmin, 32, was arrested on a Contributing To Delinquency Or Dependency Of Child charge on 05/09/2023.

Johnson, Shelia, Vandoria, 62, was arrested on a Petit Theft – 2nd Degree – 1 Offense charge at 5571 W Hillsboro Blvd on 05/09/2023.

Norden, Douglas, Andrew, 38, was arrested on a charge of Dui Alcohol Or Drugs 1 Offense at 4000 Lyons Road on 05/09/2023.

Doe, Christie, Lee, 40, was arrested on a Capias Count 1 Grand Theft In The 1ST charge at 6700 N State Road 7 on 05/11/2023.

Schwartz, Jeffrey, Hayes, 62, was arrested on a Drive While License Susp Third Or Subsq Offense charge at 3621 Hillsboro Blvd.
