Bowling enthusiasts with special needs aged 18 and above now have a league of their own in Coconut Creek.

The city is hosting a first-of-its-kind special needs bowling league designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all levels of bowling experience.

Running from August 21 through October 30, excluding September 4, the league will operate every Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Participants are requested to arrive at the venue by 4:45 p.m. for preparations. The ten-week program will be held at AMF Lanes Margate, located at 2020 N State Road 7.

The registration cost is $90 for Coconut Creek residents and $110 for non-residents. At the moment, only credit card payments are being accepted.

Registrations are open and ongoing until all 30 slots are filled. Registration can be accomplished online at or through walk-in registrations at the Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, or the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.

Please note that registrations will not be accepted at the AMF Margate Lanes.

To facilitate online registration, participants are required to set up a WebTrac account. Assistance with setting up this account can be sought by contacting the Community Center at 954-545-6670.

Participants must meet certain criteria to take part in this unique league: they should possess independent bathroom skills, be able to follow basic instructions and participate in a group structure. If these criteria are not met, participants will be required to provide an assistant for supervision.

The league promises more than just a sporting event; each participant receives a league shirt as part of their registration. Unfortunately, transportation will not be provided to the venue, so participants are encouraged to make their own arrangements.
