The City of Coconut Creek is all set to host the 8th Annual Mayors’ Chess Challenge. This event brings together chess enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to promote scholastic chess in the community.
Created by Sunrise Mayor Mike Ryan in 2014 as a way to highlight the benefits of chess in an academic environment, each month during the school year, it rotates to different Broward County cities.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 11, at the Recreation Complex located at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard, the event offers an opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels, including novices and experts, to participate in fun and friendly chess matches. The event is free to attend, and no pre-registration is required.
According to the organizers, the Mayors’ Chess Challenge event is a great way to promote the game of chess, which offers numerous benefits for people of all ages, including improved critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
In addition to community members, the event will also see elected officials and community leaders come together for a friendly game of chess. The event is part of the city’s efforts to promote scholastic chess and provide opportunities for residents to engage in fun and educational activities.
