Latin pop star and Parkland resident Ale Zabala was chosen to represent Florida in a songwriting competition on NBC.

American Song Contest, hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson, premiers March 21 at 8 p.m. The show pits 56 artists, including a few well-known names, competing against each other with original songs they wrote and will perform.

All 50 states plus five U.S. territories and Washington D.C. will be represented in the competition by a solo artist, duo or band. Viewers will have a chance to vote for the act they think should win.

Some names you may recognize that Zabala will go against are Jewel (representing Alaska), Michael Bolton (representing Connecticut), and Macy Gray (representing Ohio).
