The Coconut Creek Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Jihad Abdelrahim Ahmad for Home Invasion, Burglary with Assault or Battery, and Violation of an Injunction Protection Domestic Violence.

The incident occurred on January 15, at approximately 12:24 p.m., when officers from the Coconut Creek Police Department responded to a home invasion report.

According to a sworn recorded statement from the victim, who had been in an on-and-off relationship with Ahmad for approximately four years.

Two years ago, she filed for a non-expiring Protection Order against Ahmad, but despite this, the two of them had continued to see each other frequently and communicate regularly, according to the police report.

On the day of the incident, the victim awoke to a knock at her door, and upon answering, Ahmad and an unknown male forced their way into the apartment. Ahmad then grabbed the victim by her hair and dragged her to the living room, where he battered her for approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute. The victim suffered a chipped front tooth and swelling to her face as a result of the attack, according to the police report.

After the attack, Ahmad went into a bedroom for approximately 20 seconds, during which time the victim armed herself with a kitchen knife. The unidentified male told the victim that Ahmad would not strike her again. Then Ahmad and the unidentified male left the apartment, taking the victim’s Rolex watch with them, according to police.

Surveillance footage captured two subjects entering the property on foot, and a blue Lexus, identified as Ahmad’s vehicle, was caught making a U-turn to exit the community. The victim identified Ahmad as one of the subjects, according to police.

Ahmad later turned himself in to the Coconut Creek Police Department and admitted to going to the victim’s apartment to retrieve the belongings he had gifted her. He stated that the altercation began when the victim struck him after he forced the door open. He also admitted to taking the victim’s Rolex watch with him when he left, according to police.

Based on the statement provided by the victim and the admissions made by Ahmad, he was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail.

According to court documents, Ahmad was released on a $2,000 bond the next day.
