A Coconut Creek man is facing multiple felony charges following an alleged domestic dispute in which he reportedly shoved his partner’s face into a toilet filled with his feces.
On September 1, the Coconut Creek Police Department received multiple 911 domestic violence calls from a residence near the 5900 block of Northwest 61st Street.
According to records, CCPD officers initially responded to a call from Coral Springs Dispatch regarding a domestic dispute, indicating a man, later identified as Alex Arcila, 44, of Coconut Creek, had attacked a woman who could be heard crying in the background.
Shortly after an initial call, the woman involved called 911 herself, reporting that her partner had been drinking since the previous night and had grabbed her and shoved her face into feces.
The woman hung up, pleading for the police to be sent immediately.
Upon arrival, records show CCPD officers spoke to a female identified as Arcila’s partner. According to the woman, the dispute began that morning while making breakfast. She alleged that she had confronted Arcila about his behavior and suggested that he move out, which led to a verbal argument.
According to the report, the situation escalated when Arcila locked himself in the bathroom. The woman unlocked the door with a butter knife, intending to speak with him, but instead, this engaged Arcila, who the victim claimed grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her face into the toilet, which contained diarrhea feces.
The victim described being forced further into the toilet until her forehead touched the water, all while she struggled and screamed for him to stop. She managed to escape briefly but was then pushed against a door frame and slapped multiple times.
CCPD records indicate the woman stated that Arcila then grabbed the butter knife and made threatening motions towards her chest without making contact. When she attempted to call 911, he allegedly grabbed her phone and tried to break it, eventually throwing it against a wall and damaging it.
Both Archila and the woman called 911 during the altercation.
Officers observed visible injuries on the woman, including a small scratch on her wrist and redness on her cheeks and forehead.
Archila was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was released after posting a $4,000 bond.
