In the Pig Bowl Friday night, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team won a critical 37-6 game over their arch-rival Coral Springs High School.

The Eagles picked up their fourth win of the season, and in other good news, Principal Michelle Kefford didn’t have to kiss the pig.  That honor went to CSHS Principal Vivian Suarez.

During halftime, MSD also honored 28 players for Senior Night: Daniel Bobes, Chris Cepeda, Jamari Leo, Hervin Louis, Chris Spencer, Ethan Pluim, Lamari Penaloza, Alex Brotton, Calvin Fowler, Derek Damas, Jadyn Holley, Lydro Tatoute, Jason Brown, Giany Zengotita, Tumaini Burchell, Jose Taboada III, Matthew Herz, Jevon Clarke, Anthony Perillo, Jordan Hinds, Anthony Touris, Jordan Brown, Aris Skarecki, Jack Levin, Jorge Estrada, Kelly Ferber, Terrell Martelus, and Wesley Aurelus.

Both Brotton and Skarecki have been starters on the team for the last three years and were part of the team during Head Coach Quentin Short’s first year. Each has been a part of a pair of District Championships.

“Brotton and Skarecki have been instrumental to the success of the program,” Coach Short said. “We had some guys who came in and made an impact, just happy to have these guys in our program.”

While the seniors were honored, it was a couple of juniors that shined. Quarterback Hunter Rose threw a pair of first-half touchdowns, with his first going to Spencer before connecting with Penaloza minutes later.

Matthew Wilson added two scores and Robbie Alhadeff kicked a field goal to make it 30-0 at halftime. Roberts then extended the lead with a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown later in the game.

Next, MSD plays Coral Glades High School on Friday, November 5, at 7 p.m. The Eagles have never lost to the Jaguars though Coral Glades is 6-1 this year and off to their best start in school history.

CSHS turns their attention to J.P Taravella for their next game on Friday, November 5, at 7 p.m. The Trojans are winless in nine games this season.
