Marjory Stoneman Douglas Teams Perform Well In BCAA Swim Meets

Both Marjory Stoneman Douglas boys and girls swim teams competed in the Broward County Athletic Association swim meet on October 16th in Sunrise.

For the boy’s team, they finished 13th out of 23 schools. Wilson Ward finished with a time of 1.01.30 to come in third place in the 100-yard breaststroke, followed by Peyton Ward, who came in ninth.

Alejandro Alvarez had the third best time in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth-best time in the 100-free. The Eagles also had Alexander Nichols, Frank Etchevers, and Joshua Park advance out of the preliminary race and finished within the top 20 in their events. They also had a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay and ended in 12th in their other relay.

The girl’s team came in eighth place out of 21 schools. They had three girls make the finals in the 100-yard backstroke, with Nicole Creed coming in fifth place. After her, Anna Rosa came in ninth along with Allyson Lake in 14th. Payton Ward finished in the top ten in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.02.

Ross also swam in the 200-yard individual medley and came in 8th, with Lake finishing in 12th. Valeria Anzures competed in a pair of races and came in 11th and 17th, respectively. In the three relays, MSD finished in eighth, ninth, and tenth place.

Up next, the Eagles will turn their attention to Districts with hopes of making a run to the State Championship.
