The Humane Society of Broward County, a beacon of hope for many abandoned and injured animals, is currently spotlighting two rescues, Grace and Kona, both looking for their forever homes.
Grace
A recent addition, Grace, a 5-year-old canine, was discovered as a severely underweight stray at just 38 pounds, her body filled with numerous scars.
A subsequent diagnosis of pyometra, a severe uterus infection prevalent in unspayed dogs, had staff racing against time. Prompt medical intervention by the shelter’s veterinarians ensured Grace’s survival.
Now recovering and displaying a fondness for toys, the chocolate-colored beauty awaits a loving home that will shield her from further adversity.
Kona
On the feline front, Kona’s story is one of unexpected change. This 6-year-old cat was entrusted to the shelter after her owner lost his home.
Known for her amicability with children and fellow cats, Kona has shown apprehension around dogs, likely due to a past negative encounter. With a preference for string toys and a quirky habit of ‘conversing’ with humans, Kona is eager for a new chapter with a compassionate family.
