Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through November 9.
Burglary Conveyance
10100 block of Emerson St – Parkland Golf & Country Club
On November 8, the victim alleged an unknown suspect(s) entered his driveway and removed packages from his front porch. The victim further advised that the suspect also entered his vehicles parked in the driveway of the residence, but nothing was taken.
Information
5901 Pine Island Rd – Marjory Stoneman Douglas
On November 4, two students got into an argument on Microsoft Teams over politics. Threat Management Unit was notified.
7400 Parkside Dr – Riverglades
On November 5, maintenance workers accidentally activated the fire alarm. The school was evacuated safely, and Coral Springs/ Parkland Fire Department responded.
11200 block of Nw 72nd Pl – Parkland Reserve
On November 7, BSO was called about the resident’s husband, who had moved out last week and had entered the residence without permission the day prior. Both parties are currently filing for divorce
Missing Person/Arrest
11000 Holmberg Rd – Westglades Middle School
On November 6, BSO met with the subject following a suspicious incident report, where the subject was observed loitering outside the west gate of the Westglades Middle School campus at 12:09 p.m. A check with BSO records discovered that Christopher Ian Burke, 58, had a confirmed active warrant with Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for petit theft and property damage. He was also a reported missing and endangered person with Ft Lauderdale Police Department.
The subject was placed under arrest for the active warrants and transported to BSO’s main jail. A family member who reported the subject missing was contacted and advised of his location and the warrant arrest.
Trespassing
8800 block of Edgewater Pl – MiraLago
On November 7, the victim advised the suspect took a step into her residence earlier in the day then walked into her backyard late at night.
Threats
8500 block of Miralago Way – MiraLago
On November 11, the victim stated he began receiving threats via text messaging from a suspect listed on the police report.
Arrests
Burke, Christopher Ian (B M, 58) was arrested on charges of Warrant Monroe County, Florida, at 11000 Holmberg Rd, Parkland, on 11/06/2020.
Maxwell, Helen Skye (W F, 30) was arrested on charges of Battery-touch Or Strike at the 9200 block of NW 72nd St, Parkland, on 11/09/2020.
