Michael Udine, the new mayor of Broward County, says his focus for the next year is a healthy and sustainable Broward.
Udine was sworn in to his new position on Tuesday. He previously served as vice mayor of the county and mayor of Parkland. Once his one-year term is up, his title will return to a commissioner. District 4 Commissioner Lamar P. Fisher has been selected as the next vice mayor.
“Let’s work together to help our residents make better health choices and achieve better physical fitness. Coming out of the pandemic, we must focus on mental health. As a result, the non-profit community will be stretched like never before,” he said.
Udine said he also plans to focus on the financial health of the residents.
“Jobs and employment are key, as is continuing to strive for more affordable housing and improved transportation. We must develop more job opportunities at all levels of business throughout the county,” he said. “My overall goal is to focus on components that achieve success for our county and allow for a bright future for all residents to thrive.”
Udine said it is an honor to serve the residents of Broward County. As a practicing attorney for over 25 years, he’s been a Broward County commissioner since 2016, representing Parkland, Coral Springs, North Lauderdale, and Tamarac.
