City of Parkland Pays Tribute to the Victims of 911 at Remembrance Event

The City of Parkland commemorates the 20th anniversary of September 11 with a Patriot’s Day ceremony open to all residents.

“Residents are invited to join us as we pay tribute to those lost, their loved ones, and our great country,” said Rich Walker.

The event takes place in front of City Hall on Saturday, September 11, at 8:30 a.m., to remember the victims and heroes that perished in the terrorist attacks.

The morning includes performances of monologues by drama students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Some were written by New York City high school students about the attacks on the Twin Towers, while others will focus on what it means to be a student today.

In addition to the National anthem, a moment of silence will be observed at 8:46 a.m. when the first plane hit the Twin Towers.

A short ceremony takes place outside City Hall, by the flag pole located at 6600 North University Drive. Facial coverings are encouraged.
