Perform Your Favorite Song at Parkland's Rockstar 101 Event for Kids

By Kevin Maher

Parkland is hosting its first standalone Rock Star 101 event, where kids have the opportunity to perform their favorite songs.

Held on Friday, September 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the event also provides music, food, games, and other activities.

Rock Star 101 takes place at the Parkland Recreation and Enrichment Center (P-REC) at Pine Trails Park and will cost $30 for residents and $36 for non-residents. Registration is available at the P-REC and is open to kids in K-5.

This activity has only been offered as a part of Parkland’s summer camp in the past. This is the first time a three-hour time frame in the evening has been offered to parents.

The city expects around 20-30 kids to attend the event, according to Todd DeAngelis, the director of communications for the City of Parkland.

“So parents, enroll your kids and make your dinner reservations at your favorite restaurant,” DeAngelis said.

Registration is held in person at the P-REC located at 10559 Park Trails End.
