Applications are being accepted for Orange Ribbons for Jaime’s 2022 Scholarships.
The three scholarships honor Jaime Guttenberg, one of the 17 victims fatally shot at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day 2018.
Orange Ribbons For Jaime was created by her parents to honor their daughter by supporting programs that were important to her. She was 14 at the time of her death.
A $1,500 Jamie Guttenberg Helping Hands Scholarship is available to those applying to a traditional four-year-university focusing on a career in helping others, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, or special education. A minimum of 100 community service/volunteer hours during high school is required, and a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA.
Applicants also need to write a 500-750 word essay that answers the following: What career do you plan to pursue? Why do you want to focus on a career in helping others, and what impact do you feel you can have in the future by choosing this career?
A $1,500 Jaime Guttenberg Dance Scholarship is available to those applying to a traditional four-year-university or performing arts specialty program focusing on a dance career. The applicant needs a minimum of three years in dance classes during high school.
Students need a minimum of 100 hours in community service or volunteerism during high school is required, and a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA.
Applicants need to write a 500-750 word essay answering the question: Why are you choosing to focus on dance after high school, and what impact has dance had on your life?
A $1,500 Jaime Guttenberg ALL ABILITIES Scholarship is available to those diagnosed by a physician with a special need or disability, including autism, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, or limb deficiency.
A high school diploma is required, and applicants should be applying to a post-high school program such as a university, college, technical school, trade school, or vocational training. Those who apply also should answer the following question in writing: What are your plans for after high school?
The deadline to apply for all three scholarships is March 31. Recipients will be announced on April 10., 2022.
