For the second time this season, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrestling team won the Coral Springs Dual Tournament on January 14-15.
Charles Dixon led MSD to an 8-0 record while David Leiva, Daniel Alvarez, Lucca Azzarelli, Vincent Dion, and Lenny Cipolla finished 7-1.
MSD defeated Monarch (66-18), Riviera Prep (84-0), Coral Park (63-18), American Heritage Plantation (48-33), Coral Springs High School (60-21), Dillard (84-0), South Broward (66-18) and then Western (42-36) in the final.
The Eagles previously won this event on December 3.
“I really see the team working hard and having fun,” said Head Coach Ken Gendason. “They are handling their success well and not letting it get to their heads. It has been a fun journey with this year’s team and is one of the most coachable teams I have ever had.”
Next, MSD will prepare for the Broward County Athletic Association Championship on January 28-29 at Pompano Beach High School.
