For many years, Gabriela Marder had dreamt of opening a warm and family-friendly coffee shop.
After years with various companies, Gabriella and her husband, Jeff, decided to follow their dreams and opened Tarrazu Coffee Company at 4863 Coconut Creek Parkway.
They wanted it to be a business offering high-quality food and coffee and really cared about people.
The Marders traveled to Costa Rica and visited various coffee farms to observe the bean cultivation and worker treatment. They insisted on purchasing organically grown beans that were not treated with pesticides.
“We want everyone involved, from seed to cup, to be treated and compensated fairly,” said Jeff.
They opened the Tarrazu Coffee Company in early 2024, creating a comfortable place to enjoy a cup of coffee and have breakfast or lunch.
“It should be a place where people want to spend time,” said Jeff.
According to Gabriela, Tarrazu offers a pleasant environment. “I hope it is a place that brings happiness and peace to people. I want people to build friendships and each other’s company,” she said.
Jeff believes Coquito latte and Bee’s Knees are the most popular coffee drinks. Chai and matcha tea are also popular. Jeff said homemade coffee cakes and croissants are popular food items.
Tarrazu is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.
