A woman was arrested on Valentine’s Day after an investigation linked her to a prolonged campaign of electronic harassment against her former romantic rival.
According to the Coconut Creek Police Department, a victim walked into the station lobby on October 31 to report an alleged ongoing harassment that had persisted since January 2024.
The report indicates that the victim told authorities that she had been receiving an overwhelming number of phone calls and text messages—she estimated originating from 75 to 100 different numbers—since confronting her boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend, identified as Rehana Kamelia Ali, 35, of West Palm Beach, about an alleged affair in December 2023.
The calls reportedly mainly happened in the middle of the night, which the victim told police was even more distressing and affected her mental well-being because she worked 12-hour shifts as a nurse.
The victim described the messages as highly abusive, with the sender repeatedly urging her to kill herself and using offensive language, calling her names including “Pussy Ho” and “Big Back.”
The report shows that the harassment allegedly continued despite her attempts to block the numbers and request that the messages stop. At her wit’s end, the victim sought legal protection and was granted a temporary restraining order against Ali on September 15, 2024. The order prohibited Ali from contacting the victim until at least March 2025.
The victim contacted text and call app providers, including TextNow, to trace the source of the calls and texts. A representative from TextNow confirmed that five of the numbers used to harass the victim were registered through their service.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement subpoenaed information from the app, revealing that three phone numbers were linked to the same IP address. The investigation led authorities to Comcast, which provided subscriber details linking the account to an address associated with Action Physical Therapy.
Records show detectives found that Ali was employed at one of the company’s offices, and on February 3, police contacted the account holder, who confirmed that Ali worked for him and reported to her mother.
Based on this evidence, police determined probable cause to charge Ali with violating the restraining order. She was arrested on February 14, 2025, and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. Ali was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
