Marjory Stoneman Douglas officially had three gymnastics stars officially sign their letter of intent to continue their athletic career in college.

Haylen Zabrowski

Haylen Zabrowski is headed to the University of Michigan to join the gymnastics team. The Senior from MSD competed for American Twisters Gymnastics and was Junior Olympic National Qualifier after recording a 38.000 or better in the all-around multiple times in her career.

Zabrowski said as soon as she stepped onto campus, she knew it was where she wanted to be.

“Not only is the program ranked in the top 10 in the nation, but the academics are out of this world and will help me accomplish my post-gymnastics goals,” said Zabrowski, according to a Tweet from the University of Michigan. “I loved the coaches and everything the team and university stand for. I cannot wait to be a Wolverine.”

Michigan recently won its first National Championship in 2021.

Samara Buchanan

Samara Buchanan is now officially signed with Ohio State. She has spent 11 years with American Twisters and is a state champion on beam, vault, uneven bars, and in the all-around. Buchanan is also a four-time JO National Qualifier and finished seventh on the bars in 2019 and then eighth on the vault in 2021.

“I love the positive atmosphere and hardworking culture the coaches have established for their team, as well as the numerous resources and high-end technology the university offers, said Buchanan in a Tweet from Ohio State.

Jessica Naranjo

Jessica Naranjo will continue her gymnastics career at the University of North Carolina. She plans on majoring in Biology and will join a school that won 11 matches last year and reached the NCAA Tournament.
