Mauricio Bejarano and Nathaneal Coupet of the North Broward Prep baseball team officially signed their letter of intent to play in college, while three other student-athletes are officially committed.

Mauricio Bejarano

EKU finished competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference for the first time and reached the final of the Conference Tournament after winning 38 games.

He says it feels like a dream come true to be able to play baseball at the division I level.

“It’s one step closer to hopefully playing baseball in the bigs one day,” said Bejarano.”  Never satisfied with myself though still gotta keep grinding each and every day just like I would before signing. Looking forward to Bringing home a state title ‘3-peat’ this year for North Broward Prep.”

Nathaneal Coupet

Coupet signed to play with Georgia Tech in the ACC. He has been on the varsity team for three years and was also a key contributor at catcher to both State Championships. Coupet started his baseball career playing for the EWest Boca Cobras before enrolling at NBP. This past season, he hit 316 with four home runs and 19 RBIs. He is set to join a school that won the ACC Championship this past season and 36 wins, including a pair in the NCAA Tournament.

“It feels perfect being able to finally relax a little bit now, said Coupet. “It was a long crazy process for sure. Now I can just focus on my grades and going all the way with my team again in my last year.”

Both players will still have one more year left on the varsity baseball team at NBP. With the fall season wrapping up, they are set to begin their final season in March 2023.

Leah Finkelman, Aubrey Sheppard, and Riley Weiss
