Marjory Stoneman Douglas’ had six players from the baseball team officially sign their letter of intent to play in college.
Christian Rodriguez
Christian Rodriguez officially signed to play at the University of Florida. During his three years on varsity, he has been one of the greatest players in school history.
“It’s a great honor and such a warm feeling to be a Gator,” Rodriguez said.

He is 18-1 in his varsity career with an ERA of 1.58. He has 105 strikeouts in 120 innings, hit .349 with three home runs, and has 33 RBIs at the plate. Rodriguez also won a gold medal for Team USA at the 18U World Cup. He. is currently the 95th-ranked prospect and 23rd-ranked right-handed pitcher in the country.
Jacob Gomberg
Jacob Gomberg is the second Eagle to sign with the University of Florida. After starting his high school career with North Broward Prep and winning a State Championship, Gomberg transferred to MSD for his junior year and won another State Championship while picking up a win in ten games.
“It feels amazing to officially be a Gator,” said Gomberg. “I have had a ton of support and mentorship throughout the past few years, building me into the character I am today, and I am beyond thankful for it. I am excited to now be a Gator and start the next chapter of my life, but before doing so, I still have my mind set on helping my high school team win another State Championship.”
He is set to join Rodriguez and former teammates Jake Clemente and Chris Arroyo at one of the most historic college baseball programs in America.
Dillon Moquin
Dillon Moquin signed to play at Appalachian State. He has played on the varsity baseball team for three years and shined on the base path during his sophomore year. Moquin scored 17 runs and had six stolen bases before recording five hits this past season and adding 14 more runs. He will get set to play with a team that won 20 games this past season and will play alongside a pair of State Champions from North Broward Prep in Jonathan Xuerub and Riley Luft.
“To know that after high school, I will be attending a D1 program with an atmosphere like Boone is such an amazing thing,” said Moquin. “I’m just so grateful for the opportunity and the people who have surrounded me throughout my whole baseball career.”
Alex Lazar
Alex Lazar is set to play college baseball at Coker College in South Carolina. The slick-fielding shortstop shined with the glove a season ago and also stole six bases while scoring nine runs and driving in a run. Coker University won 13 games a season ago.
“It feels good, said Lazar. ” I felt relieved and felt that my hard work really paid off.”

Jacob Herzberg
Jacob Herzberg is signed with William Peace University in North Carolina. He started playing baseball at four and has played competitively with the Westglades Middle School’s club team, West Broward Warriors, Weston Hawks, Parkland Pokers, and Primal 9.

Cayden Freels
The final MSD baseball to sign was Cayden Freels. He will be playing at Roanoke College in Virginia. During their run to a Championship a season ago, Freels hit .333.
“Looking forward to a successful senior season at MSD as we focus on a 3-peat before I pursue the next level at Roanoke,” Freels said.
