7 Marjory Stoneman Douglas Athletes Sign Letter of Intent to Play in College

On National Signing Day, Marjory Stoneman Douglas officially had seven players ink a deal to formally compete in college. 

Aris Skarecki: Keiser University

Marjory Stoneman Douglas Star Aris Skarecki officially signed to play at Keiser University and becomes the sixth offensive linemen to play college football next year.

A Coral Springs resident, Skarecki finished his high school career as a three-year starter with MSD. He was a part of two District Championships while playing in 22 varsity games and winning 16. He also had a chance to compete in December at the Broward-Dade and SWFL vs. SFL Sandviper All-Star Game

Hervin Louis: St. Thomas University

The other Eagle to officially sign was Hervin Louis, who will be playing at St. Thomas University. Louis had two seasons on the varsity football team and tallied 228 yards on 18 catches with four touchdowns. He was a part of the 2020 Eagles’ District Championship and won eight games while playing varsity. 

Also, Louis won MVP in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South Football All-Star Game Wednesday afternoon and competed in the Broward-Dade All-Star Game. 

Sam Novik: Limestone University

On Tuesday night, Sam Novik announced her commitment to Limestone University (South Carolina) and officially signed one day later after spending three years on the varsity soccer team after playing her freshman season on junior varsity.

Michelle Berndt: John Hopkins University

Michelle Berndt is officially heading to John Hopkins University. She plays travel soccer for Florida United and while she does not play on the varsity soccer team, Brendt has competed for Florida United Development Academy Soccer Team, Coral Springs United, FC Florida, FC Prime, and the Puerto Rican Youth National Team.

Skylar Lund: Converse University

Skylar Lund will also be heading to South Carolina next year, signing to play with Converse University. Like Novik, she has been on the varsity teams as a midfielder for three years.

On Monday, she picked up an assist in the teams’ District Championship game in their overtime win over Coral Glades. She also recorded a hat-trick in a game earlier this year against Coral Glades.

Calista McCausland: Berry College

Calista McCausland

In December, Calista McCausland committed to Berry College (Georgia) and received the Alyssa Alhadeff Soccer Scholarship. After moving to Parkland, she is the only player to appear on varsity as a freshman and played for two years for Westglades Middle School.

Alexis Reigel: Berry College

Alexis Reigel joins McCausland at Barry College after officially signing. Since her sophomore year, Reigel has played on the varsity team and has won three District Championships. Along with Lund and McCausland, she is a part of the defense that has allowed only six goals in 16 games this year.

Novik, Lund, McCausland, and Reigel are all set to compete in Regionals next week, as all seven signees graduate later this spring.
