State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky: Sales Tax Holiday and Other Updates for July

I hope summer has gotten off to a wonderful start for everyone. This can be a great time when our schedules change a bit, with school being out and many activities and events slowing down. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to benefit from some sales tax holidays.

This year, the Florida Legislature once again approved a sales tax holiday. It is a great opportunity to enjoy tax savings while you are planning to enjoy your summer. 

• The Freedom Week Sales Tax Holiday runs from July 1-7, 2022. During this time, consumers can purchase qualifying recreation and outdoor items as well as admissions to entertainment and cultural events exempt from sales tax. For a list of all qualifying items, please visit FloridaRevenue.com/freedomweek.
• The Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday runs from July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023. During this time, consumers can purchase certain Energy Star items tax-free. This includes washing machines, dryers, and water heaters under $1500 and refrigerators or refrigerator/freezer combinations under $3000. For additional information, please visit FloridaRevenue.com/EnergyStar.
• Baby and toddler clothing (primarily intended for children age 5 and younger) and diapers are also tax-free from July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023. This does not include watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas, or handkerchiefs. For all details on this program, please visit FloridaRevenue.com/DiapersAndClothing.
• Impact-resistant doors, windows, and garage doors can be purchased tax-free from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024. For more information, visit FloridaRevenue.com/HomeHardening.
• The Back-to-School tax holiday takes place this year from July 25, 2022, to August 7, 2022. I hope you can take advantage of these sales tax holidays over the summer. FloridaRevenue.com/BackToSchool.

Whether you are looking to hike the trails, do some fishing or kayaking, there is something for everyone to do at our Broward County or Florida State Parks.
