Coconut Creek Holds Senior Night; Boys Soccer Advance in District Tournament

Coconut Creek High School held a pair of senior nights on Monday for the boys and girls basketball teams.

The boys fell 50-44 against  Coral Springs Charter but honored Keyon Holtzclaw, Hinslee Prospere, McKevan Bell, Panell Charles, Jordan Weatherspoon, and Josh Smith. The Cougars then lost on Tuesday against West Broward High School and will play Hollywood Hills High School on Monday, January 29, at 7 p.m. before closing the season at Coral Springs High School.

The girls basketball team honored their lone senior Tessan Parchment. Coconut Creek also played Pembroke Pines Charter and fell 54-40 to move to 8-8 this year. The Lady Cougars only scored 14 points in the first half but responded with 16 in the third quarter and ten more in the fourth.

The Cougars will play their next game against Hollywood Hills High School on Monday, January 29, at 7 p.m. before closing the regular season against Coral Springs High School.

The boys soccer team improved to 9-5-2 this year following Thursday’s 6-0 win over Hollywood Hills High School. Cehnari Bron scored two goals, while Wickenson Alexandre had a goal and two assists. Clevice Joseph also found the back of the net and set up a goal, with Herdy Clermont and Jovens Alexis scoring. Cameron Henery added an assist as the Cougars will play top-seeded American Heritage High School in the Semifinals.

The Cougars will play Suncoast High School in their next game on Tuesday, January 30, at 4 p.m. The Chargers had a bye in the opening round after going 8-4-3 this year. The winner of this game will play either top-seeded American Heritage or Northeast after the Hurricanes had a 1-0 win against Dr. Joquin Garcia High School in their Regional Quarterfinal game on Thursday.

The girls soccer team did not qualify for the District Tournament but picked up their first win of the season on January 17 against Stranahan High School. The Cougars won 2-0 before falling against Stranahan High School in their final game and finished the year 1-10-2.
