Coconut Creek and Monarch Compete in BCAA Track and Field Championship

The BCAA Track and Field Championship took place on Friday, with Coconut Creek and Monarch High School competing at Blanche Ely High School.

The Cougars had their top individual result come from Hyajah Miller, who finished second in the 400 meters. Coconut Creek also finished second in the 4 x 100 relay with Jeono Robinson, Joshua Yearby, Jermaine Gordan, and Christopher Allen, while Gordon also finished fourth in the 200-meters

Miller, Davari Morris, Yearby, and Gordan placed sixth in the 4 x 400 relay, with Juan Carlos Arocho also finishing tenth in the 400 meters to help the boys finish 12th out of 32 Broward County Schools.

The Coconut Creek girls’ team had their best result in the 4 x 100 relay, with Selena Adams, Jalen Bennet, Janelle Bennett, and Jayda Washington finishing eighth. Adams also placed in the top ten in the 100 meters.

Jabari Brady leads the Monarch boys’ team with four top ten fishes. He finished sixth in the high jump, eighth in the 200 meters, and tenth in the 100 meters while anchoring the 4 x 100 relay team to a seventh-place finish. Josh Doerfler, Marcus Talabert, and Dylan Rosemy competed in the javelin to help Monarch finish 25th.

The girls’ team also finished tied with Coconut Creek, with Sariah Augusma placing eighth in the javelin. Saniah Whyte, Zykeria Rutledge, Chloee Lamour, and Courtney Johnson finished 11th in the 4 x 100, while Isabella Alba, Christie Boisrond, and Katrice Burke participated in the javelin.
