Tryouts for the Florida Pokers travel baseball team are set to take place on December 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The Pokers, who have produced over 500 college baseball players and three dozen MLB players, will have eight teams this season.

Tryouts will begin on Sunday, December 12, with the 9u and 10u teams from 9-11 a.m., 11u and 12u from 11-1 p.m., 13u and 14u from 1-3 p.m., and 15u from 3-5 p.m.

“We are very excited to be expanding the program as we head into 2022,” said Florida Pokers Owner Lenny Roberts. “The tradition and excellence are unmatched in South Florida, and we hope as many of our high school kids can be seen by as many college colleges as well as travel across the country.”

Earlier this year, Roberts announced the addition of two former coaches. Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s Todd Fitz-Gerald and former professional baseball player Von Stertzbach. Fitz-Gerald won two National Championships with the Eagles in 2016 and 2021, is returning to coach the 16u team. Stertzbach is also retuning and will lead the 10u and 12U teams. Rob Georgio is planning on coaching the 15u team, while the rest of the coaching staff should be finalized this month.

Not only will these teams have a chance to play one of the best travel baseball team in the country, the 12u team will also compete in a tournament in Cooperstown, NY.

The original Florida Pokers network of college coaches contacts will significantly benefit the talented 15u and 16u teams this summer as they will have a chance to play in tournaments throughout the country as part of a very challenging national schedule.
