Marjory Stoneman Douglas Track and Field Makes Their Mark at Regionals

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas track and field team’s incredible season continued Saturday at Regionals.

Jayah Portis led the girl’s team to place third in the long and triple jump. Kyanne Meredith finished third in the pole vault, and Ne’Rya Vassel placed third in the high jump. After coming in fourth, Portis also qualified in the 300 hurdles, while Sabrina Acevedo finished fifth in the 300 hurdles. Arianna Abreu also competed in regionals after placing fourth in Districts on the track.

The boy’s team had three relay teams participate, with the 4 x 800 relay squad of Andres Abreu, Clapp, Mofford, and Connor Mazzilli coming in fifth. The 4 x 100 team of Alex Black, Traejon Roberts, Calvin Fowler III, and Robert Peart, and the 4 x 400 team of Black, Josiah Clapp, Roberts, and Deandre Mofford placed eighth. Individually, James Bronzwaig came in fourth in the javelin, and Joseph Cardinale finished ninth in the pole vault.

Next, MSD will compete at the State Championship in Gainesville on Saturday, May 14.
