Monarch High School sensation Brayden Slade is officially committed to playing college football at the University of Florida.
Slade, a senior, has called this his number one goal since he was a kid and felt a bit of a weight lifted off his back.
“This is just the beginning, and I know I need to put in a lot more work, and it is just another step in the process, said Slade. “I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity.”
Slade started playing in the Coconut Creek flag football league when he was seven. He went on to play that until he was in eighth grade, transitioning into tackle football.
This past season on varsity, Slade was one of the team’s top defenders and was First Team All-State. He recorded 57 tackles and nine interceptions, returning four of them for touchdowns helping Monarch win their first District Championship in eight years and reach the Regional Semifinals after their win over Boca Raton High School.
Slade also excels in the classroom with a 5.2 GPA and competes on the varsity baseball team. He says that Florida has been his dream school, and he always grew up watching them play. Before going to college, Brayden hopes to improve his speed, strength, and agility.
The amount of work I’ll be putting in is nonstop,” Slade added. “I’ll need to work harder than everyone and mentally and physically prepare myself for the future.”
The Gators, who have won three National Championships, won six games ago in Head Coach Billy Napier’s first year in Gainesville.
