Monarch High’s Football Legacy Grows After Ridley Signs $92M NFL Deal, Thomas Commits to College

Monarch High School football continues to produce talent, with a former wide receiver signing in the NFL and a current player announcing his commitment.

Calvin Ridley, a 2015 graduate from Monarch, signed a four-year deal worth $92 million with $50 guaranteed Tennessee Titans. Ridley started his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons and played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ridley had 4,358 yards receiving and has scored 36 touchdowns. 

In high school, Ridley caught 41 passes for 1,131 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior before only being allowed to play in three games as a senior, where he caught 18 passes for 420 yards and four scores.

Ridley played college football at Alabama and caught 224 passes for 2,781 yards. He also scored 20 touchdowns while winning a pair of National Championships.

Senior Isaiah Thomas is set to become the 15th senior from this year’s team to play at the next level after committing to Concord University in West Virginia.

The senior shined on defense for Monarch with 49 tackles, three forced fumbles, and a sack, helping the Knights win their second straight District Championship and first Regional Title in school history. Concord is coming off a season where they went 1-9, with their lone victory coming against West Virginia Wesleyan.
