Orange Ribbons For Jaime, a nonprofit started by Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg after their daughter was murdered in the Parkland school shooting, will give free emotional support dogs to eligible families—people directly affected by gun violence—as part of a new initiative.
Individual and family applications for “Paws of Love” will be available starting November 16, 2022, at orangeribbonsforjaime.org/paws-of-love. After review, selected applicants will be interviewed and chosen to receive a Goldendoodle puppy, as well as a Paws of Love package, organizers said.
The program is in partnership with Moss Creek Goldendoodles, a premium, veterinarian-recommended home breeder of English Goldendoodle Puppies located in Central Florida.
The organization focuses on researching, developing, and improving the English Goldendoodle dog breed and car for emotional support dogs before they head to their new homes.
“After Jaime was murdered, our dogs Charli and Cooper saved us,” said Fred Guttenberg. “We got Cooper from Moss Creek, and he was only four months old when Jaime died in the Parkland shooting. Our family understands the impact of having a loving support dog, and we look forward to helping other families in this unique way while also honoring Jaime’s love for pets.”

Orange Ribbons For Jaime honors its namesake by supporting causes important to her in life, as well as “causes that deal with the way her life was tragically cut short,” according to the nonprofit’s website.
