North Broward Prep Girls Basketball Wins 16th Game on Senior Night; Boys Soccer Advances in Playoffs

North Broward Prep is off to a great start this week, with one team winning on Senior Day and another one advancing in the District Playoffs.

Girls Basketball

The girls basketball team’s historic season continued on Monday with their 70-31 victory over American Heritage High School on Senior Night.

The Eagles honored their leading scorer Riley Weiss. The University of Columbia commit once again led the Eagles in scoring with 32 points.

“Riley Weiss is just a blessing to be able to coach and has led this team as a captain, said head Coach Garner Michel. “Her talent and ability on the basketball is something quite legendary, and she has broken several school records this year. Her performances have led us to many victories this season, helping us become a great basketball program in our area.”

Kylie Cohen, who will be attending the University of Miami, was also honored alongside UCF commit Meadow Henningsen.

“Kylie Cohen is a dedicated and determined member of the team, Michel added. “She is always ready to contribute to the team in any way that she can. Meadow Henningsen has spent six seasons on varsity and has pushed through this year as a starter with a major role on our team.”

This was the Eagles’ 17th win of the season which is the most since the 2010-11 season. Alexa Schwartz recorded Alexa Schwartz 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Henningsen, Kaydine Sturm, Ana Abelleira, and Cohen combined for 25 points.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team is onto the next round of the playoffs after picking up a big 6-0 win over Clewiston High School on Wednesday. The Eagles were the four seed after finishing the season with a record of 6-8-3 this year.

Next, they will play top-seeded Jensen Beach High School on Friday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. These teams faced off earlier this year, with the Falcons picking up a 2-1 win and finishing the season with a record of 6-3-1.
