North Broward Prep continues to shine, earning more hardware following a tremendous run from their winter sports teams.
After winning a District Championship, the hockey team won their third straight State Championship competing in Orlando. The Eagles picked up wins against Newsome High School 5-4 in overtime, with Syracuse commit Cody Zamet scoring three goals and recording an assist while Topher Morre scored in overtime. The Eagles then went on to win 8-2, 4-3, 5-4, and 6-1 in their next four games to record a state title.
The girls soccer team won a District Championship following a 2-0 win against Somerset Academy Canyons. They previously Jensen Beach High School 8-0 in the District Semifinals and went into Regionals as the top seed. They beat Mater Lakes Academy 5-0 before being upset 2-1 against Cardinal Gibbons High School in the Regional Semifinals.
The boys soccer team finished the regular season with only two losses but lost twice in the postseason to have their season end. The Eagles lost 2-0 against Jensen Beach High School in the District Semifinal and then lost to the fifth-seeded Somerset Academy Canyons 3-0 in the Regional Quarterfinals to finish the season 11-4-2.
The boys and girls basketball teams fell in the District Final but still qualified for Regionals. The boys lost 71-58 against Calvary Christian Academy, earned the third seed in the postseason, and opened with a 74-49 win at St. Brendon High School. They then beat Calvary Christian Academy 50-48 and won 49-37 in the final against Mater Lakes Academy. The Eagles will play Gibbs High School on Thursday. February 29 at 11 a.m.
The girls lost 75-44 in the District Final against Somerset Academy Canyons before being seeded fifth in Regionals. They played Monsignor Pace but lost 53-50 and finished the season 13-10.
