Parkland Crime Update: 20K Fraud and Swastika at School

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through May 16, 2022.

Assist Other Agency

Pine Island Rd.

On 05/13/2022, deputies observed a stolen vehicle that the Coral Springs Police Department searched for. Deputies watched the car until Coral Springs Police arrived in the area and took both occupants into custody. 

Burglary Conveyance

Long Leaf Dr.

A 52-year-old female was the victim of Burglary Conveyance on 05/10/2022. The offender was observed on a security camera attempting to enter the victim’s locked Mercedes SUV. Security was called and followed the offender through the community until he was taken into custody. The offender appeared to be homeless and was transported to the Main Jail without incident.

Fraud

Lemongrass Dr.

On 05/15/2022, a victim reported that an unknown person made a fraudulent payment of $20,000 from a business account.

Information

Sweet Bay Mnr.

On 05/11/2022, the person wanted to document that her neighbor was aggressively texting subtle threats about what other people were saying on the Nextdoor app about her dog getting loose.

Holmberg Rd.

On 5/11/2022, two seventh-grade students at Westglades Middle School reported a drawn swastika they discovered on their lunch table to the administration.

Robbery By Sudden Snatching

N. State Rd. 7

A 16-year-old female was the victim of Robbery By Sudden Snatching behind Parkland Bagels on 05/15/2022. Three male juveniles on bicycles rode up behind her, and one of them snatched the victim’s iPhone 13, worth $1,000, from her back pocket. He also stole a clear phone cover and her Visa debit card as he rode past, escaping with his two friends. Tot. Est. Loss: $1,010.

Theft

W. 66th Ln.

On 05/12/2022, a neighborhood juvenile parked his 2004 Honda dirtbike in front of his friend’s house. About 50 minutes later, he returned to the front of the house to find the bike gone. Deputies located the bicycle across the street; however, the child’s helmet and a GoPro camera were missing. An area canvass had negative results.

Arrests

Arcia, Gerardo Alberto, 40, was arrested on charges of Burgl-conveyance, Unoccupied/unarmed on Long Leaf Dr on 05/10/2022.

Kabolowsky, Robert, 62, was arrested on charges of Warrant Contempt Of Court/Marchman Act on N Blue Spring Dr on 05/13/2022.
