Rep. Christine Hunschofsky Teams Up for a Drive-Through Food Giveaway in December

State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky

From State Rep Christine Hunschofsky:

Happy Holidays! Time has flown by this year and it’s hard to believe that the holidays are already here. This has always been my favorite time of the year. It is an opportunity to reflect on what is truly important in life and an occasion to celebrate with family and friends. It’s important to make these memories special since they stay with us and our children over the years.

When my kids were young, we started many family traditions including visiting Holiday Fantasy of Lights at Tradewinds Park (holidaylightsdrivethru.com). Now that they are older and away at college and work, I especially treasure this time of year because everyone comes home to celebrate the holidays with us. Although our boys are older now, they thankfully still humor my husband and I and go with us to check out the amazing display lights.

This year for the holidays, my office will be starting a tradition by hosting an open house on Saturday, December 11, from 11 am to 1 pm at our office at Coconut Creek City Hall 4800 W. Copans Rd. Please stop by to say hello and have some refreshments.  My team and I would love to see you and hear about some of your holiday traditions. We will also share more about how we can be of service to you and your family as well as the work we do in the community and in Tallahassee.

On Saturday, December 18, from 9 am to 12 pm (while supplies last) at 5280 NW 40th Street in Coconut Creek, we are teaming up with Farm Share and the City of Coconut Creek to host a drive-through food giveaway. The holidays can be a difficult time for many working to make ends meet. We wanted to make it easier by providing food for those in need. You don’t need to register to participate. If you are interested in helping out and volunteering on the day of the event, please email us at HDist096@myfloridahouse.gov with “volunteer” in the subject line and your name and contact information in the email. We will be providing service hours for all volunteers.

As 2021 comes to a close, we all have much to reflect on.  Each year brings its challenges and how we navigate through them and who we have around us can make all the difference. While it is an often-used phrase, it is one that I regularly look to “Be the change you wish to see in this world”. As the world around us appears to become more divided and cruel, we each have an opportunity to make it better by practicing understanding, graciousness, and compassion. While no one of us can change the world, each of us has a part in making a positive difference in our homes, our communities, and our world.

Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, another holiday, or no holiday at all, my family and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy December and all the best for the New Year ahead. May we all be blessed with family and friends and surrounded by love and care.

Please reach out to me at HDist096@myfloridahouse.gov or 954-956-5600 if I can ever be of assistance. It is an honor to be able to serve District 96 and the Coconut Creek, Parkland, Margate, and Coral Springs communities. Thank you!
