Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas lacrosse player Sammy Fisher had an incredible freshman season playing for Elon University and was officially named an All-Conference honoree and selected to the All-Rookie Team.

“Being recognized with such great conference awards as only a freshman motivates me to work harder and encourages my drive in lacrosse, said the Parkland resident. “It felt amazing to know my hard work and dedication are being recognized.”

Fisher, a 2021 graduate from MSD, played in 15 games, recorded 19 goals, and assisted this past season. She also had a pair of hat tricks, including a four-goal performance against Furman on March 5.

Fisher finished third on the team in draw controls and secured  CAA Rookie of the Week honors while her team won five games.

Previously, she scored 50 goals during her senior season with MSD helping them make Regionals. She will still have three more years of eligibility while the team bounces back and makes a run in the conference tournament.

“Even though we fell short this year, we use it as momentum to push us forward next year,” said Fisher. “I hope I can beat my stats from this year for my sophomore year, hopefully earning more conference honors.”
