3 Local Football Players Announce Commitment; 5 Players Selected to Showcases

Coconut Creek continues to produce incredible high school football players, with three stars from North Broward PrepMonarch, and Coconut Creek High School announcing their commitment, while two players were also selected for offseason showcases in 2024. 

Marcus Dixon, who attends North Broward Prep, will be playing college football at Heidelberg University in Ohio. 

“I would like to thank my family for supporting me and pushing me to do the best that I can in, along with the coaches and personal trainers that I’ve had that helped me where I need to get to physically and mentally,” Dixon said. 

In high school, he spent four years on the varsity football team and helped NBP win 12 games. This past season, he was a part of one of the best backfields in the state with Deandre Desinor, running the ball 24 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns. Dixon also shined on the defensive line and played in both the All-American Game and Orange Bowl Showcase.

Dixon is also a star on the track and field team, ranking among the best in the District in the triple and long jump. 

Jaiden Jacobs of Monarch is set to play at Crown College in Minnesota.

“I would like to thank my coaches and my family for believing in me and developing me as well as making me a better person individually on and off the field,” Jacobs said. “It has been an honor playing at the Castle. I will forever cherish these moments and memories I have made playing with my brothers.”

Jacobs was a part of the Knights’ record-setting season in 2022 when they won their first District Championship since 2014 and then also picked up a win in the first round of the postseason.

Winstanson announced his commitment to play at Bethune-Cookman University. He started his varsity career out at Coral Springs High School before transferring to Monarch High School for his senior year. He also played in the Miami-Dade vs. Broward High School All-Star Game and was a member of the All-Country Third Team. Mathurin also shines in the classroom with a 4.2 GPA.

Freshman wide receiver Jabari Brady was also selected to the Adidas All-American Bowl featuring the top 100 high school football players in the country. He caught 43 catches for 864 yards and scored six touchdowns. 

Monarch’s Isaiah Thomas was also selected Hawaiian Tiki Bowl after playing in nine games this past season and recording 38 tackles.
