Police on Thursday recovered the body of a Coconut Creek man who went out fishing in his canoe and never returned home.

Coconut Creek Police said they found the body of Daniel Potter, 60, after Potter’s neighbor in the 3700 block of Coco Lake Drive phoned police with the news.

The caller said a man flying his drone over Coco Lake had spotted a body floating in the water. Police recovered the deceased and identified him as Potter.

Potter was last seen on his canoe the night of Saturday, November 13, fishing on the lake behind his home. An autopsy will be performed to determine his cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission assisted in the recovery of the body, police said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Potter family during this difficult time,” Coconut Creek Police said in a prepared statement.
