In this week’s update, the Broward Sheriff’s Office received reports of several crimes where residents at a Parkland senior living center had cash or jewelry stolen from them.
At Allegro Senior Living, located at 5901 Loxahatchee Road, the first crime was reported on November 18. According to the facility manager, three residents reported cash missing from their wallets, and according to the police report, they had no suspect information or surveillance available.
In an incident reported on November 21, a 93-year-old victim alleged that numerous employees had access to the victim’s room where a $3,000 necklace was stolen between September and November.
Between November 1 and November 22, an 83-year-old victim alleges that money was removed from a wall safe in his residence.
BSO contacted a resident on November 21, who reported $5,000 in cash was missing from their wall safe, and a 5-carat diamond ring missing from a dresser drawer. There were no signs of forced entry.
Auto Theft
12000 block of NW 69th Ct – Heron Bay
On November 21, a 2016 Land Rover Sport was stolen from the driveway. The key fob was left in the vehicle. No cameras in use in the area.
Domestic Disturbance
12400 block of NW 78th Mnr – Heron Bay
On November 20, the accused was irate toward the reporter’s sister and was not allowed on her property. Was warned about trespassing and left without incident.
Found Property
11000 Holmberg Rd – Westglades Middle School
On November 19, the nighttime custodian found a small bag with an unknown substance in it. The substance in the bag was field-tested and turned over to the BSO Lab for destruction.
Fraud
6600 block of Stratford Dr – International Jet Spars
Between October 23 and October 27, the victim owns an aircraft parts brokerage and brokered an aircraft data printer for $12,980, sold to a South Africa company, who never received the part, but paid for the item. A bank in Mexico intercepted the payment.
Information
Marjory Stoneman Douglas
On November 19, A teacher at MSD phoned in a call of a student suffering depression. Contact was made with the 16-year-old, who advised that he had no plans to harm himself. Parental contact was established, as both agreed to monitor their son.
7000 block of NW 63rd Way
On November 20, the resident requested an information report about an unknown person(s) purchasing a vehicle in his name in Greenvale, New York. The resident already filed a fraud report with the Nassau County Police Department.
9000 block of Bastille Cir E – Four Seasons
On November 23, the victim alleged an unknown person tampered with and opened her package to remove an 18-karat yellow and gold-mixed gemstone bracelet valued at $1,000. The victim cannot confirm if the content was removed during transit before delivery to her porch.
Theft
5901 Hillsboro Blvd
On November 20, the victim advised an unknown subject walked up and stole his bike while they were present.
Violation of Court Order
7000 block of NW 66th Ter
On November 19, Paul Rasmussen was arrested for violation of an injunction against his wife. A neighbor witnessed the violation and requested police assistance.
