A domestic dispute escalated into an incident involving threats with a machete, resulting in the arrest of a Coconut Creek man on assault with deadly weapon charges.

According to Coconut Creek Police Department records, on April 5, officers responded to an emergency report of an assault with a deadly weapon incident that had occurred at a Coconut Creek home.

According to the victim, an altercation with a man, later identified as Ron Seeram, 44, of Coconut Creek, began over the phone. It quickly progressed to a face-to-face argument concerning family-related issues.

During the dispute, Seeram reportedly threatened to “chop up” the victim before he then entered the garage, where he began to sharpen a machete.

Witnessing this, the victim and her daughter fled the residence on foot, running through the front yard. The victim was in such distress that she ran out of her flip-flops during the escape.

A landscaping crew working nearby acted quickly, providing a safe place for the terrified pair to stay before transporting them to the community clubhouse, where they called 911.

Law enforcement officers were called to the scene, taking statements from the victims confirming the threat.

Seeram was taken into custody without incident. During questioning, Seeram contradicted the accusations, claiming that he had spoken out of anger and did not threaten the victims with a machete but instead expressed a suicidal threat during the heated argument.

Seeram was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
