Coconut Creek Launches Recreational Cheer Program for Children and Teens

By Sharon Aron Baron

The City of Coconut Creek has announced its new recreational cheer program for children and teenagers between 6 and 17. The program includes uniforms, ten regular season games, playoffs, and a championship, beginning on August 18 and running until October.

The program is divided into four age groups: 7U for ages 6 to 7, 9U for ages 8 to 9, 11U for ages 10 to 11, and a middle and high school division for ages 12 to 17. Practice schedules, locations, and game days will vary based on the division and are subject to change depending on weather and availability.

The program will be held at Sabal Pines Park, and the fee for Coconut Creek residents is $110 and $160 for non-residents. To qualify as a resident, a parent must provide a state-issued driver’s license or valid passport and proof of residency, such as a valid voter registration card, water bill, cable bill, or electric bill.

The city is also seeking volunteer coaches, and those interested must submit an application and undergo a background check with fingerprinting.

Registration for the program is open until June 30 or until space is filled, with a limit of 20 participants per division. Interested participants can register online through the city’s website or in person at the Recreation Complex or Community Center. Before registering online, participants must have a WebTrac account.
