Condo Manager and Security Director at Wynmoor Village Arrested for Alleged Burglary

Coconut Creek Police has arrested a Wynmoor Village condo manager and Director of Security following an alleged theft.

According to police, Donald “Don” Fitch, a 75-year-old condo manager from Coconut Creek, and Oneill Elliott, a 43-year-old Director of Security at Wynmoor, are facing burglary charges for unlawfully entering a resident’s apartment and vehicle after he had a medical emergency. The incident took place on March 15, and two days later, the resident reported missing belongings.

An arrest report shows the incident began when the victim suffered a fall outside his apartment at approximately 11:21 a.m., to which Fitch and Elliott reportedly responded to the scene to assist until the Coconut Creek Fire Rescue arrived to transport him to the hospital for treatment.

While the victim was out of the picture, Fitch allegedly suggested to Elliott that they should search the victim’s unoccupied apartment and car for a firearm based on a two-year-old rumor regarding the victim’s supposed ownership of a gun.

The duo then accessed the victim’s apartment without permission, where Elliott retrieved the car keys from the kitchen counter.

According to the report, Elliott then proceeded to search the victim’s vehicle parked in front of the apartment but found no firearm.

CCPD records allege further trespassing occurred as both re-entered the victim’s apartment. Fitch ordered Elliott to search the home while he took photos inside the victim’s primary bathroom. The photos were later sent to the victim’s son, who used them to prove their unauthorized entries.

On March 17, the victim’s son discovered his father’s safe open and approximately $10,000 worth of silver and gold coins missing. The son then confirmed his father deliberately left the safe unlocked to avoid forgetting its combination.

An investigation is ongoing into whether the duo are to blame for the allegedly stolen coins. As of this writing, all charges are associated with Fitch and Elliott’s unauthorized entry into the home.

On April 9, Fitch and Elliott were arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.

Fitch has since been released after posting a $5,000 bond.
