A Coconut Creek man faces a laundry list of felony charges after imprisoning, beating, and threatening to kill his pregnant girlfriend.

On February 5, Coconut Creek Police Department officers were dispatched to an emergency domestic disturbance incident involving a firearm and an injured pregnant victim.

According to records, the call came from a home near the 3900 block of Sleepy Orange Lane in the Whispering Trails development.

The CCPD report of the incident details a flurry of law enforcement arriving on the scene, with a man, later identified as Marcell Maddox Pratt, 21, of Coconut Creek, already being detained by the initial officers that responded amidst a volatile situation.

According to the report, Pratt was overheard making several threatening statements by law enforcement, including “Fuck that hoe, I’ll shoot her!” and “She thinks I’m playing, I’ll kill that bitch!”

The situation reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute between Pratt and the victim, who is pregnant with his child.

The conflict reached physical violence when, at one point during an argument in the garage of the residence, Pratt imprisoned the victim against her will while physically assaulting her, striking her in the head, face, and, most notably, to her abdomen, knowing she was pregnant.

Pratt allegedly threatened the victim with a black Smith and Wesson M&P .40 handgun, loading a single bullet in the chamber, cocking it, and asking her, “What are you trying to do? Do you want to die?”

The victim managed to capture video evidence of Pratt’s threatening behavior and threats, which, according to the report, is now crucial evidence against him.

A subsequent search of Pratt revealed not only the firearm in question but also illegal substances, including 4.8 grams of marijuana and a controlled prescription pill for which Pratt had no prescription.

Pratt was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released from custody after posting a $71,000 bond.
