A man faces multiple felony charges after pulling a gun on multiple people in an attempt to take his children from their home.

On December 18, the Coconut Creek Police Department responded to reports of a chaotic domestic dispute involving a firearm with children who were possibly in danger.

According to records, a man, later identified as Deshaun Miller, 27, of Pompano Beach, had reportedly visited the residence to spend time with his children, whom he shares with the victim.

The situation escalated when Miller became irate and aggressive. The victim asked him to leave due to his hostile behavior, prompting Miller to return later, forcefully entering the residence, according to eyewitness accounts and statements provided to the authorities.

Inside, Miller allegedly grabbed both of his children, creating a hectic situation in which the victim and witnesses struggled to retain custody. The situation spilled outside the residence, where neighbors attempted to intervene to assist the victim.

During the altercation, Miller allegedly pulled a handgun, putting multiple people in fear of their lives. Miller reportedly fled the scene after realizing the police were on their way.

Following a thorough investigation and statements from the victim, her 12-year-old daughter, and witnesses, Miller is facing multiple charges.

Miller’s charges include burglary of an occupied dwelling for breaking and entering with a handgun, interference of custody of a minor for attempting to take his children from the victim’s custody, child abuse without great bodily harm for dragging one of the children by her hoodie, and simple battery and aggravated assault without intent to kill for the altercation with neighbors.

Miller was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
