Parkland Crime Update: Man Punched Over Parking Space

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through Oct. 10, 2022.

Animal Bite

Redwood Ln.

On 10/04/2022, the reporter advised while outside of his residence within his development, a neighbor’s unleashed dog attacked his dog, causing a laceration.

Battery

On 10/05/2022, the suspect and victim were involved in a verbal argument over parking. The suspect punched the victim in the face with a closed fist.

Domestic Disturbance

Aqua Ct.

On 10/07/2022, a verbal dispute broke out between a husband and wife over a hurricane storm door, which sustained a spider crack after being smacked by the husband. 

Information

Noor Blvd.

On 10/04/2024, the reporter stated he felt like he was being harassed by his boss.

Pine Island Rd.

On 10/04/2022, a 10th-grade student was participating in a JROTC exercise called a “bridge.” Rope placed between two trees, participants attach themselves with a harness and carabiner, wrap their legs around the rope, and pull themselves across with a hand-over-hand motion. During the exercise, the rope was released from one of the trees, causing the student to fall on her back from approximately five feet in the air. Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded to the scene and evaluated the student, determining that she had the “air knocked out of her.” She did not lose consciousness and answered fire rescue questions correctly. The student was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for evaluation.

Holmberg Rd.

Deputies met with the 8th-grade assistant principal, who reported that a student was found to be in possession of an electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) device. The assistant principal advised that the student would receive discipline, based on the school’s disciplinary matrix, for bringing the prohibited item onto the school campus.

Shooting/Unlawful Discharge

Loxahatchee Rd.

A Shooting/ Unlawful Discharge was reported on 10/05/2022. The homeowner reported shots fired. No evidence was found.

Threat Assessment Report

Nob Hill Rd.

On 10/04/2022, BSO received a report about a student who made a verbal statement toward another student about his doll that can kill.

Arrest

Ray Batista, 41, was arrested on charges of Battery-touch or strike on State Rd. 7 on 10/05/2022.
