Parkland Crime Update: Student Cited for Bringing Alcohol to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through November 22, 2021. 

Battery

Long Leaf Dr.

A woman was the victim of battery on 11/16/2021. She contacted PD to report that during an argument, the batterer had pulled her hair, pulled her by her arms, and shoved her out of the bedroom — all against her will and without her permission.

Holmberg Rd.

On 11/17/2021, a victim alleged that she was battered by a student peer who became irate with her over not letting her have a toy spatula. She pushed off the victim by placing her foot in the victim’s crotch area while both simultaneously tried to pull the toy away in opposite directions. The victim denies having any injury and stated she did not need fire rescue. The investigation determined that it was a minor tug-of-war-like dispute between the two students, and the school will handle the incident using the school board’s “PROMISE” program matrix.

Beverage Law Violation

5901 Pine Island Rd.

On 11/16/2021, a student committed a Beverage Law Violation at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The juvenile female was in possession of alcohol. The student was given a juvenile citation and released to her parents.

Driving Under the Influence

On 11/18/2021, a woman committed the crime of Driving Under The Influence at University Dr/Hillsboro Blvd. A traffic crash revealed the driver was suspected of being impaired and was subsequently arrested.

Grand Theft

N. State Rd. 7

On 11/16/2021, a person was the victim of Grand Theft when their white 2008 Toyota Camry was stolen. The suspect is a 17-year-old male. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,400.

Information

NW 61st Ave.

On 11/17/2021, an alleged delayed verbal threat was made to kill the female victim. The alleged threat occurred weeks ago at a party at an unknown location in the tri-county area. According to the complainant, the supposed threat was forwarded to the state attorney prosecuting the alleged threat-maker for a previous domestic violence incident in which the complainant was the victim. The complainant was advised to call BSO if she received any further direct threats from the person either by phone, text, or email.

NW 64th Way

On 11/17/2021, there was an incident of illegal dumping involving dirt fill mounds that were dumped on a residential lot. According to the complainant, the mounds were dumped on his property by another property owner who is developing the lot. According to the complainant, Code Enforcement has been notified, and they have since cited the other property owner.

Holmberg Rd.

On 11/19/2021, a male bicycled through a traffic circle when a minor collision occurred between him and an unknown motor vehicle. He stated that he stayed on the scene before units arrived. No injuries were reported—no further information on the car involved or its driver.

7400 Parkside Dr.

On 11/19/202, deputies received a written information report regarding anonymous information about an inappropriate comment made by a student at Riverglades Elementary School. Information deemed unfounded after investigation.

Property Damage

NW 122nd Ave.

On 11/20/2021, deputies contacted the reporting person, who advised that a juvenile was driving a golf cart on the sidewalk when they accidentally ran into the grass/edges area, causing damages valued at $200.

Arrests

Weiner, Darryl, 62, was arrested on Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol charges on Long Leaf Dr on 11/16/2021.

Marina, Danilina, 39, was arrested on charges of Bribery-bribery Of Or By Public Servant on University Dr. on 11/18/2021.

Warren, Travon Kamel, 18, was arrested on charges of Larc-grand Theft 750 Less Than 5k Dols on N State Road 7 on 11/18/2021

Metellus, Jerry, 26, was arrested on charges of Warrant Dwls Bond $2000 on N University Dr on 11/19/2021.

Islam, Nadia, 40, was arrested on charges of Trespassing-occupied Structure Or Conveyance on Old Club Rd on 11/19/2021.
