Parkland Crime Update: Auto Burglary and Fraud

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through February 14, 2022. 

Arrestable Traffic Violation

Riverside Dr.

On 02/09/2022, a traffic stop was conducted in reference to dark tints. Further investigation revealed the tints to be 4 percent, the driver had a revoked driver’s license from 2011, and the vehicle registration was expired. The driver was later arrested and transported to BSO main jail for processing and the vehicle was towed.

Battery

NW 127th Ln.

On  02/10/2022, deputies responded in reference to a domestic battery. The suspect left the residence prior to their arrival.

Burglary Conveyance

NW 76th Dr.

A victim alleged that on 02/10/2022, an unknown person smashed the front passenger window of her white Ford Edge, stealing multiple items. The victim alleged that the vehicle was locked. After further investigation, it was found that multiple credit and debit cards were used at a Target located in Boca Raton. Tot. Est. Loss: $255.

Fraud

NW 65th Way

On 02/08/2022, a female victim reported that three different credit cards she had canceled were still being used at different locations around Florida.

Property Damage

NW 108th Way

On 02/11/2022, a person reported $400 in damage to grass in a swale within a community. The person advised that a black Jeep Cherokee parked in the swale, which violates HOA rules. The grass was damaged from the Jeep’s tires. The reporting person said the vehicle owner would be billed for the damage.

N. State Road 7

On 02/12/2022, the reporting person said a vehicle hit the rear of a truck while moving through an automated car wash.

Theft

N. State Road 7

A store owner was the victim of Theft/Retail / Shoplifting on 02/08/2022. The reporter advised an unknown male entered the business where he concealed multiple items and exited the store without making payment. Tot. Est. Loss: $4,288.

Arrest

James, Dwayne Anthony, 38, was arrested on charges of Drive While Lic Susp 3rd Or Subsq Off on Riverside Dr/Holmberg Rd on 02/09/2022.
