Parkland Crime Update: Family Displaced By Fire

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through June 13, 2022.

Animal Bite 

Holmberg Rd.

On 06/10/2022, a 61-yer-old female was walking past a dog on a leash when the dog lunged at her, biting her left leg and scratching it. Fire-Rescue was canceled. Minor injury.

Auto Theft

Moore Dr.

Two people were the victims of Auto Theft on 06/12/2022. Victim #2 advised she noticed that her vehicle was missing/stolen. The vehicle’s keys are with the vehicle. Auto Theft affidavit was signed, and the vehicle was entered into BSO Teletype.

Battery

Holmberg Rd.

A 31-year-old female was the victim of Battery on 06/07/2022. The victim alleged that she was pushed twice by the suspect during an argument. The suspect was placed under arrest for Battery and transported to BSO main jail.

Location redacted

On 06/08/2022, a suspect entered a property and was informed he was not permitted to visit a resident until later. The suspect attempted to proceed towards the elevator, where he was blocked by an associate, at which time he bit the associate on the arm.

Fire

6609 Nw 97th Ln.

On 06/08/2022, authorities responded to the location about an electrical fire. A family was displaced and advised they would stay in a hotel until all electrical issues were resolved.

Information

Osprey Trail

On 6/8/2022, a juvenile resident of a community wanted access to the country club gym but did not have identification. She was denied, got mad, threw a pen at a plastic partition, and then left.

Threat Assessment Report

5901 Pine Island Rd.

On 06/07/2022, at MSD High School, a juvenile was caught with a small container of mace in her bookbag on school grounds. The parent was notified and was on the scene.

Arrests

Avila, Albert, 32, was arrested on Battery charges on Holmberg Rd on 06/07/2022.

Heinich, Jonathan, 36, was arrested on charges of possessing a controlled substance on N State Rd 7 on 06/11/2022.

Curry, Keli, 45, was arrested on charges of a warrant for possessing a controlled substance on Pine Island Rd on 06/12/2022.
